Riedel Seminar Lounge

Visit this Riedel Seminar Lounge to sit in on some fantastic seminars brought to you by some of the leading faces within the wine industry. Informative, interesting and more importantly tasty, these seminars will give you the chance to expand your wine horizons and hear about new and exciting things happening with our favourite drop.


NOTE: This feature was a full house at last year’s festival so it is advisable to arrive early to ensure your spot. Spaces are strictly limited to 75 per seminar and are on a first come, first served basis. Queues will open up 15 minutes prior to each session. At the conclusion of each seminar, all attendees will be required to vacate the seminar lounge so it can be prepared for the next session.

Riedel Wine Seminar Lounge

Riedel Tasting Experience
11:30 – 12:30

In the Riedel Tasting Experience you will taste classic wine varietals in specifically shaped glassware and you will see the resulting influence the glass makes, it will surprise you.

South Island Pinot Noir Challenge
1:00 – 1:45

Bob Campbell will teach the regional characters to be found in red wine grapes from across the South Island, then lead a blind taste challenge to test your new knowledge.

Daring to be different
2:15 – 3:00

Go off the beaten track with leading local wine scribe Jo Burzynska on a journey through the newest grape varieties being grown across the country and the most exciting alternative wine styles and winemaking.

Sauvignon Blanc blending workshop
3:30 – 4:15

Brian will show insights into the surprisingly different styles of Sav found across the Marlborough region and explaining the winemaker’s art of blending, then guide you in creating your own blend.

A riot of Riesling
4:45 – 5:30

Join Waipara wine personalities, Crater Rim winemaker Theo Coles and Pegasus Bay marketing manager, Ed Donaldson for a romp through the diverse range of Rieslings coming out of their region.

Fabulous Fizz
6:00 – 6:45

Dish wine editor and star of TV’s Thirsty Work, Yvonne Lorkin will be providing the inside track on selecting, serving and generally getting savvy about sparkling wine this festive season.
